VIVAI COOPERATIV RAUSCHEDO
VIVAI COOPERATIV RAUSCHEDO: THE FIRST IN THE WORLD IN QUALITY AND PRODUCTION CAPACITY
The "legend" of the Cooperative Nurseries of Rauschedo (VCR) arose in 1933, when several families of this small village, located in the province of Pordenone, in the Friuli region of Venice Julia, merged into a cooperative, giving life to what became, over time, the largest grape-nursery enterprise in the world.
The legend continues today, thanks to the work of 250 members of the cooperative, who face the important and difficult task of guaranteeing and ensuring the availability in more than 30 grape countries of the world where the products of the Cooperative are in demand, of high-quality planting material in its morphological, genetic and sanitary properties.
Thanks to its production potential - 1.200 hectares of nursery and 1.400 hectares of livestock - VCR is able to produce over 80 million seedlings in more than 4,000 combinations. The expansion of areas for nurseries, a particularly favorable climate, the high professionalism of the members of the cooperative make it possible to get 75%, and in some cases 90%, of the output of first-rate seedlings that cannot be obtained in any other place in the world. For almost 90 years of its activity, the Cooperative Nurseries of Rauschedo have become the most significant grape-nursery enterprise in the world.
In addition, in order to best protect the interests of winegrowers, regarding the processes of clone selection and preliminary reproduction of planting material, VCR, starting in 2002, introduced the "Quality System UNI EN ISO 9001." Such certification is mandatory in addition to the sanitary-genetic certification provided for by Italian legislation in the field of grape breeding.
